This retreat will introduce you to the power of journaling – an incredible tool to help manage the chaos of daily life. In our workshops, we will show you different journaling techniques, helping you organize your thoughts, reflect on your experiences, and cultivate a deeper sense of self-awareness.


On top of that, you’ll get the chance to hit pause and gain the necessary distance from everyday life. Recharge in nature along Portugal’s raw, beautiful coastline. Use this time to reflect, reconnect with yourself and your creativity. Take care of your body with daily morning yoga sessions, enjoy guided walks, and savor delicious home-cooked vegetarian meals prepared with love using fresh ingredients from our garden. Rest and enjoy well-deserved me-time in your private room with a private bathroom.

Nurture your mind and soul with our diverse meditation practices at the end of each day and engage in inspiring conversations during meals and activities. Connect with yourself and cultivate awareness using your journal, immediately applying what you have learned in our workshops.

After spending 8 340 minutes in our nurturing environment, you’ll return home feeling rejuvenated, reconnected with yourself, and ready to embrace whatever comes your way with renewed energy and clarity. Journaling will help you to maintain these feelings of relaxation and self-awareness long after the retreat is over.

What’s included

It is our aim to make you feel at home and completely relaxed and free of worries. Therefore, we have created the program in a way, that everything you need is included:

  • 6 nights in single or double room with private bathroom

  • 1 workshop on journaling, introducing different techniques and use cases

At 4elements retreat we speak English, Portuguese and German fluently. Our Thai, Italian and French knowledge is a bit rusty, but serves for emergencies. The program will be held in English.

A Perfectly Balanced Retreat Experience
4elements with Ali and Pedro is the most beautifully balanced retreat. The perfect combination of routine and structure to each day but also relaxation, downtime and space to reset. Every single meal, which primarily came from their gorgeous garden was delicious and they took the term ‘eat the rainbow’ very seriously with each plate being full of health and vibrancy. Spending time with them and their wonderful family in their gorgeous home felt very special and I came away feeling contemplative, revived, calm, positive and nurtured. I highly recommend this retreat for anyone who wants to do something nice for themselves.

No Frills, Pure Bliss
No frills yoga and meditation in a beautiful space with beautiful people and breathtaking nature just around the corner. Ali and Pedro made me feel at home the second I walked into their house. The three meals per day are prepared with lots of love and veggies and fruits from the garden. Days start with a morning yoga-session- including breathing techniques and meditation. Don’t expect music, essential oils or other extras you might be used to from your yoga studio at home. Pedro and Ali are great teachers- and they stick to the essence of yoga. No frills. Go for a walk at the cliffs, take a surfing lesson- or just sit with the chickens and let their funny noises calm you down. It‘s one of the most peaceful places I‘ve ever been to.

A Perfectly Organized Week of Yoga, Relaxation, and Connection
The week at Ali and Pedro's home was everything I could have wished for. It was perfectly organised and had the ideal mix of yoga, quiet time, beach time and great discussions. We were so lucky to have a week of perfect sun to relax and surf in. I wish I could have stayed longer, Mateo (baby) and Shanti (kitten) will have grown up so much by the next visit - I cannot wait to come back!

FAQ

You always have a private room with private bathroom. Only if you prefer to share a room with a with a friend, family member or partner that you travel with, you can also book a double room.

No specific knowledge or experience is necessary and we will show you many different techniques and use cases, so you can try them out and find the one most suitable to you personally.

No, we provide yoga mats and props like blocks, belts, bolsters and blankets. If you prefer to bring your own mat, please feel free to do so.

If you are arriving earlier than 4pm or leaving later than 3pm, we can give you some tips on how to spend the time well rather than hanging out at the airport. There are lockers to leave your luggage, so you can move around more freely. If you spend time before in Lisbon, please come back to the airport for the shuttle, we don’t do pick ups in any other place.

If you arrive later and don’t make it to the shuttle at 5pm please contact us so we can give you tips on how to get here. The main possibilities are a private cab/uber or taking the bus. Please note that arrival at the retreat after 10pm is not possible, since we start the program at 7:30am on Monday morning.

If you are not able to arrive on Sunday you can still join on Monday and will miss a little bit of the program. Airport transfer will then have to be arranged differently and can't be included in the price. Please contact us in this case.

Our retreats always run from Sunday to Saturday and we have designed the program to fit well in this 7 day timeframe. Since we are a familiar place with only 5 rooms, so small groups, it is also nicer for the group to stay together for the entire time. Should you have to leave a bit early, please contact us.

Our classes are suitable for beginners. We teach in small groups (less than 10 people), so we can address different levels and needs. You can always approach us, if something isn’t clear or you need help with a pose.

You can book directly through the link under this FAQ section. We require a deposit of around 30% to fix the booking, the remaining amount will be due upon arrival. The deposit can be paid via credit card or PayPal. The remainder can be paid in cash (Euro), by bank transfer or via credit card (Visa and Master).

If you must cancel your attendance 30 days prior to the retreat start date you can reschedule or receive a voucher for the entire amount. If you wish a refund of your deposit, we will refund you the amount minus a small service charge (15€) for bookings made directly through our website.

If you cancel less than 30 days prior to the retreat start date, a refund of the money is not possible. You can read all the details in our Terms & Conditions.

We teach Hatha Yoga in the morning, the most ancient yoga style and the “mother” of all other styles. Hatha yoga consists of Asana (postures), Pranayama (breathing exercises), Mudras (gestures) and bandhas (energy locks) as well as Shatkarma (cleansing techniques). If you want to know more about the differences between Hatha yoga and other popular styles like Vinyasa, this blog article will be useful to you. One morning of the retreat we will also practice aerial yoga, which uses silks hanging off the ceiling to support you in the poses. In the evening we will have one lesson of Yin Yoga, a more meditative form of yoga.
